One of the most rewarding parts of being a brand photographer is helping business owners bring a new chapter of their business to life and I recently spent the day with Kat Boyd, a Fertility Naturopath, Nutritional Therapist and Emotions Coach, for her brand photography shoot. Kat is rebranding and having a whole new website designed. Like many clients, Kat recognised that as her business evolved, her imagery needed to evolve too.
With a beautiful new website in development, she wanted professional brand photos that would reflect her expertise, personality and the warm, supportive experience she offers her clients.
Why Brand Photography Matters During a Rebrand
When you’re investing in a new website, updating messaging, and a refined brand identity, your photography needs to support that transformation.
Your images are often one of the first things potential clients notice. They help communicate who you are, what you do and what it feels like to work with you.
For coaches, therapists, wellness practitioners, and service-based businesses, authentic imagery is particularly important because clients are investing in a relationship as much as a service.
Professional brand photography helps build trust before a client has even booked a discovery call.
Planning the Shoot
One of the things my clients often tell me is how much they value the planning process before their session. Before the shoot, we worked together to identify:
- The key messages she wanted her brand to communicate
- How the images would be used on her new website
- The different services she wanted to highlight
- Props that would support her story
- Outfit choices that reflected her brand colours and personality
This preparation meant that on the day of the shoot, she could relax knowing that everything had already been thoughtfully planned.

Using Props to Tell a Story
Props play an important role in brand photography when they are used intentionally. For this session, we incorporated carefully selected items that reflected her work as a fertility naturopath and nutritional therapist.
From books and notebooks to wellness-related tools and natural elements, everydetail helped reinforce her expertise and create visual interest throughout the gallery.
These small touches add depth to a brand story and help create images that feel personal, professional and engaging.

Creating Variety Through Outfit Changes
One of the easiest ways to maximise a brand photography session is through outfit changes. During the shoot, we included several outfit variations to create different looks and moods throughout the gallery.
This approach gives clients greater flexibility when using their images across website pages, social media content, blog posts, email newsletters, marketing materials and online programmes and courses.
The result is a cohesive gallery that feels varied without losing consistency.

More than Just Headshots
While professional headshots are an important part of any personal brand gallery, they are only one piece of the puzzle.
Throughout the session, we captured a mixture of portraits, lifestyle imagery, behind-the-scenes moments, working shots, detail photographs and website banner images. This variety ensures that clients have a comprehensive image library that supports their business for months to come.

If you’re rebranding, launching a new website or simply feel that your current imagery no longer reflects your business, professional brand photography can help you show up with confidence and consistency.
Whether we photograph in your home, workplace, hire a studio or on location, every session is carefully planned to create imagery that feels authentic to you and aligned with your brand.
If you’re ready to create a library of strategic brand images that work hard for your business, I’d love to hear from you. https://www.hannahphipps.com/contact/general/
